Summary of the Role Responsibilities 

Rotary Hospice House and Home Hospice are hiring Casual RNs.

Rotary Hospice House (RHH)/ Home Hospice Registered Nurses assess, identify, plan, implement, and evaluate the nursing care required to assist clients living in the community in meeting their physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs. RNs work within an interdisciplinary clinical framework in accordance with the BCCNP Standards of Practice and consistent with the mission, vision, and values of The Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society.

Functional Reporting Relationships

  • Reports to Nurse Lead and/or Operations Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Liaise with Home and Community Care.
  • Reviews client status through methods such as reviewing documentation, care plan, client observation, collateral information, and consultation with other members of the health care team.
  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for clients using a framework for nursing practice. Administers medications, manages basic to complex wounds, catheter insertion (and manages feeding tubes, ostomies, and other medically provided devices). Documents in electronic charting program.
  • Contributes to individual care plans through methods such as assessing client problems and needs, planning and prioritizing nursing interventions, implementing interventions and reassessing if goals are not met and modifying plan of care based on evaluation.
  • Provides nursing care according to identified policies and procedures, technology and PHC standards and evaluates outcomes, records observations and reports problems and/or changes to designated staff.Provides care according to the BC Centre for Palliative Care symptom guidelines.
  • Identifies client and family learning needs and incorporates teaching and counseling into the care plan and nursing interventions and/or makes referrals to other identified resources.
  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to collegial sharing of information, demonstrating and/or providing guidance on related tasks
  • Provides direct nursing interventions for management of crisis and life threatening situations.
  • Documents information including assessments, nursing care plans, medication administration, client status and progress, and discharge plans in a computerized environment.

    Volunteer Support/Coordinator

    Purpose

    As a Volunteer Support Coordinator, you will play a vital role in volunteer engagement; including recruitment/marketing, intake/training, retention/mentorship/support in order to meet the changing needs of the Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society (PGHPCS).

    Role Overview

    As part of the Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society (PGHPCS) community programs, you will lead the design and delivery of volunteer learning—organizing in-service trainings, scheduling volunteer shifts, and ensuring every volunteer feels prepared, supported, and confident in their roles. You will spend time at all sites building relationships with our volunteers and ensuring that volunteering is a meaningful experience. You will take part in planning meetings to determine what volunteer vacancies are priorities throughout the year; and will assist the Society in the challenge of filling critical roles.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Recruitment & Outreach
      Lead volunteer recruitment through thoughtful marketing and public awareness campaigns—attracting individuals moved to serve with dignity and continuity. Participate in recruitment fairs/events/opportunities.
    • Orientation & Placement
      Orient volunteers to their roles across programs, including Rotary Hospice House (RHH) and Resale Stores—ensuring readiness and clarity of purpose.
    • Training Development
      Design and implement a comprehensive in-service training curriculum—enabling volunteers to grow in empathy, understanding, and skill; as well as to build connections with each other. This aligns tightly with hospice values.
    • Scheduling & Communication

    Qualifications:

    • BC Certificate of High School Graduation (Grade 12 or equivalent)
    • Previous experience working in not for profit.

    Grief Support Team Member

    Purpose

    PGHPCS sustains exceptional community grief and hospice programs through deep-rooted relationships. The Grief Support Team Member coordinates existing and helps implement new grief support offerings, aligning with PGHPCS’s strategic goals.

    Role Summary

    Working as part of the Community Programs Team, you’ll develop and deliver grief support services, and mentor volunteers in their facilitator roles.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Organize, facilitate, and co-facilitate grief support groups and one-on-one sessions for clients of all ages.
    • Provide emotional support and grief education for clients, caregivers, and families—both in the community and at Rotary Hospice House; through scheduled sessions or workshops and also by responding to crisis phone calls
    • Support volunteers by providing direction, mentorship, and regular check-ins.
    • Collaborate with staff to design or adapt programs using community feedback.
    • Advocate for hospice services and raise public awareness.
    • Compile program metrics, manage data entry, and track community support activities.
