Children & Family Grief Support
Children’s Grief Group
The Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society is offering a drop-in grief support group for children ages 6-12 who are grieving the loss of a loved one. The drop-in group will meet every Tuesday at the Solace Centre. The group offers peer support and an opportunity for children to talk about their grief in a safe and welcoming space. We welcome parents / guardians with children who have experienced a loss to call and register.
Family Grief Support
At Hospice, we think of family members as a single unit. We know that by supporting the family together, we can help everyone learn to care for each other in their grief. Our Family Grief Support provides space for parents and caregivers to grieve together and learn about children’s grief. While in their group, children are encouraged to play, share, and grieve with their peers. We designed the program to present the same topics to each group, which can then be shared as a family at home together.
The program is available for families with children and youth 6-19 years old grieving the death of a loved one. We offer the program three times a year, running on Tuesdays.
Grief Support
Broken Circle
Broken Circle is an education based peer support structured group for adults who are grieving the loss of a loved one. Throughout the program, you will learn what to expect and gain valuable tools while talking to others who are sharing a similar journey.
Broken Circle is a 10 week group that we offer 3 times a year.
Grief and Grub for Guys
Over the course of the eight weeks, the men become comfortable talking about their loss and what they are experiencing because of it. Through these conversations, they realize they are not alone and friendships are made.
The program offers peer support, a home cooked meal, and education about the grief process. The group runs three times a year.
Community Grief Support Group
The Community Grief Support Group is a peer support drop-in group held weekly, open to all of those grieving a loss of a loved one. Join us Wednesdays at the Solace Centre. Share your story, have a cup of tea, and listen to others. You are not alone in your grief.
Immediate Onsite Grief Support
Our Grief Response Team supports businesses and organizations in Prince George when they experience a death of a team member. We can mobilize quickly to your organization and guide you to help your staff process the loss of a fellow staff member. Our team will give your staff the time and space they need to start to come to terms with a loss. We acknowledge the death in the workplace and ensure the team feels cared for. We hold a candlelight vigil – a moment or a pause for people to feel what they need to feel.
Traumatic Loss Support Group
An 8 week program for individuals who are grieving the loss of someone who has died suddenly and unexpectedly. This group is to provide a safe place to feel, think, share and further understand how a loss with no chance to prepare impacts your own grief and mourning process. This is a structured group that can ease the isolation and address the complex layers of grief that can occur with a traumatic loss.
Broken Hearts of Fentanyl
Support/advocacy for parents who have lost a child by toxic drug poisoning.
Every second Thursday early evening.

COVID Long Haulers Support Group
COVID continues to evolve and impact our community. The lasting adverse effects of severe COVID diagnosis have created many people now facing a life-altering disease. At Hospice, we understand that these people suffer on many levels: loss of wellness, periodic loss of work, and isolation from support networks. Compacting these burdens is the stigma associated with people that have contracted the virus.
Hospice has a program to support people living with the effects of COVID. We want to hear your story and better understand how we can help work towards healing.
Our peer support group is running every Monday, please call 250-563-2551 to register.
The Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society does not provide counseling services; we have a team of highly trained and experienced grief support workers.
