For nearly four decades, the Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society has grown because of one simple truth: our community cares.
Every act of generosity—whether through volunteering, sponsorship, donations, partnerships, or simply sharing our story—has helped ensure that individuals and families facing end-of-life, grief, and loss receive compassionate care close to home. For that, we are profoundly grateful.
Today, we are excited to share an important milestone in the future of our organization.
Following a comprehensive recruitment process that attracted an outstanding field of highly qualified candidates, the Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Erin Connelly as the next Executive Director of the Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society effective August 31, 2026.
Selecting the next leader of Hospice was no easy task. The calibre of applicants reflected the outstanding reputation Hospice has earned as an innovative and compassionate leader in hospice palliative care. After careful consideration, the Board unanimously selected Erin because of her proven leadership, commitment to community, and passion for our mission.
Many of you already know Erin through her role as our Director of Operations. She has been instrumental in strengthening our organization, supporting our staff and volunteers, building community partnerships, and helping to expand the programs and services that so many families rely on.
Born and raised in Prince George, Erin holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Counselling from the University of Northern British Columbia and is a Registered Clinical Counsellor. With more than 20 years of leadership experience in the nonprofit sector, she brings a wealth of knowledge in strategic leadership, community engagement, program development, advocacy, and relationship building.
Most importantly, Erin believes deeply in compassionate care and in the power of community. She understands that Hospice is much more than a building or a program—it is a family of dedicated staff, volunteers, donors, sponsors, healthcare partners, and community members working together to make a difference.
As we prepare for this transition, we also want to recognize the extraordinary leadership of Donna Flood, whose vision and dedication have transformed Hospice into a recognized provincial and national leader. During her tenure, Hospice expanded Residential Hospice, introduced Home Hospice,strengthened grief and children’s programs, advanced research and innovation, achieved accreditation, and built partnerships that will benefit our community for generations to come.
While leadership will evolve, our mission remains unchanged. We will continue to provide compassionate hospice care, grief support, caregiver services, education, and innovative programs that improve the lives of people throughout Northern British Columbia.
The future of Hospice is bright, and we are excited for what lies ahead. On behalf of our Board of Directors, thank you for believing in our mission and for walking alongside us. Your generosity, encouragement, and commitment have made every milestone possible, and we look forward to continuing this journey together under Erin’s leadership.
